With the master cylinder final stripped (thanks Pete for the high pressure blast) I put the body and parts in the ultrasonic cleaner for a couple of hours, using the repair kit I then reassembled it.
The slave cylinder is far to rusty to rescue, so I will need to buy a new one with connecting pipe. Also a new 'Girling Ltd' alloy cap to finish it off.

This is my record of the restoration of my 1977 Triumph TR7, I bought the car in 1983 for £1500. Over the four years of driving it I had got married, moved to a 110 year old cottage in need of renovation and given a new company car. The TR was parked in the garage (1987) at the end of the garden. I always joked saying "that one day I put it back on the road". Twenty-four years later (Nov 2011) that day has arrived - wish me luck.

Clutch master and slave...
I had ordered repair kits for the master and slave cylinders, but it looks like I will need to replace the slave. Very corroded and although I'm soaking in DW-40 I think its to far none - also the connecting pipe ends were seized so I needed to bend the pipe to clear the reservoir.
The master is also soaking in DW-40 to loosen the internal plunger which full of muck.
