Removal/Refit instructions:
This is my record of the restoration of my 1977 Triumph TR7, I bought the car in 1983 for £1500. Over the four years of driving it I had got married, moved to a 110 year old cottage in need of renovation and given a new company car. The TR was parked in the garage (1987) at the end of the garden. I always joked saying "that one day I put it back on the road". Twenty-four years later (Nov 2011) that day has arrived - wish me luck.
Hi Kent,
ReplyDeleteAm in process of fully restring my tr7 as well,I cant remember how the rear brake shoes fitted, until I found your site, thanks, however if you could answer one question, the hand brake mechanism, going down the side if the cylinder, does it attach somewhere on the bottom shoe, would think it must to work properly.ie,when lever pulled by cable itshould spread both shoes onto the drum,
thanks Ray.
Hi Ray, I had the same problem!
ReplyDeleteIt clips into the top shoe then pushes against the lower – I've posted a scan of my old Repair Operation Manual I used.
Hope it helps and keep in touch, good to hear from others!
